Basic Devil Food Cake Recipe

If you're always craving for chocolate, try this at home. :)

Here's How:

2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup dry cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
1 1/4 cups whole milk combined with
1 tablespoon vinegar

Sift together flour, cocoa, soda and salt. Set aside. Add sugar gradually to the shortening creaming well. Blend in vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time. Thoroughly blend in flourmixture alternately with the milk-vinegar mixture beginning and ending with flour. Pour into prepared pans. Bake in preheated oven at 345F, cool. Moisten top of one layer with chocolate butter icing. Top with remaining layer. Frost all around with chocolate butter icing.
